FROM
MY HEART TO YOURS: Revival Tabernacle is a special place. It is unique.
It would be very difficult to put a label on us (although people try).
Some call us a holiness church; some call us a worldly church. Some call
us modern; some call us old fashioned. Some call us a white church;
some have said we're a black church. Some say we are powerful in the
Spirit; some say we don't believe in the Spirit. Some said we wouldn't
last two years; some have said we've already changed the world. Call us
what you will, we just call ourselves Revival Tabernacle. Our
denomination? Christian. Our movement? Christian. Our passion? Christ.
Statistics
show that 40 years ago 80% of Americans attended a worship service. 20
years ago that number was down to 40%. Today? It's a mere 20%. By 2050,
only 10% of America will attend church. What does this tell us?
Something has to change in our churches. What we've done for the last 50
years isn't working. The church, as a whole, is dead! Living things
reproduce. Dead thing are ... well, they're just dead!
The
funny thing is people absolutely hate change. I mean regardless of how
lifeless and fruitless their way of doing things is ... their way is
still the BEST! A pastor friend of mine has 6 people attending his
church. He preached about vision and change Sunday night. The two people
that weren't his family resisted his preaching. They want to continue
doing what they've always done. It's insanity.
For
most people, to change is to compromise. But what is compromise? It is
to accept standards that are "lower" than is desirable. The question is
whose standard are we compromising? God's or our dead church's? The
Bible's or our family's? What are we compromising? The law of the Lord
or the traditions of men? I believe men are compromising the Word of God
to preserve their 60 years old traditions! Jesus dealt with these same
people:
Mr 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8
For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men,
as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
Compromise
is simply not doing what you know is right. For many, change is
compromise. For me, to NOT change is compromise. Why? Because I know
that to the do the same thing over and over and expect a different
outcome is insanity. I must reach the least, the last, and the lost and
what we've been doing for 50 years isn't reaching them.
I
WILL NOT COMPROMISE GOD'S WORD. My city needs it! My city needs
DELIVERANCE from SIN! MY city needs the LOVE and HOLINESS of GOD! We
will preach the unadulterated Word of Christ, but every TRADITION, MODE,
METHOD, MEANS, AND MODEL are suspect.
Revival
Tabernacle must win our city to Jesus. If we must change our approach,
then so be it. If we lose friends, so be it. Hypocrites have plenty of
churches they can attend. The outcasts? Not so much! Revival Tabernacle
will be a salvation station! A disciple maker! A kingdom builder!
To
not change out of fear of having my reputation tainted would be the
worst form of compromise. I've got to stand before God one day! It's
better to obey God then men.
REVIVAL TABERNACLE WILL BE CHRIST'S CHURCH!
Love,
Pastor Lamb
